Reasons for Losing Hair

Hair Loss Facts

THE SIX MAIN REASONS FOR LOSING HAIR

• Genetics               • Medical
• Age                     • Nutritonal
• Stress                 • Environmental

MOST COMMON CAUSE "HORMONES"

As with the six main reasons for losing hair, HORMONES are the most common related cause. Hormones both stimulate hair growth and cause hair loss. Hormones are also the biggest impact on hair loss, which affects both men and women. For men, hair loss is most prevalent in the front crown area, for women, it's thinning throughout.

Why? Because hair loss is directly linked to the presence of the androgen Dihydrotesterone (DHT): Everyone has it, all our bodies produce it, but only some suffer from its effects. When this happens, some have follicles that have a greater number of Androgen receptors for the DHT to attach to. This is the component that is inherited through the genes.

DHT: A hormone formed when testosterone and 5-alpha-reductase merge. 5-alpha-reductase: The enzyme that is responsible for transforming testosterone into dihydrotestosterone. (DHT)
